Bar-B-Cutie in Allen Texas
For the past few months, I have visited Bar-B-Cutie in Allen Texas whenever I was in the mood for BBQ. It is a small place, but very warm, inviting, and clean. You can smell the wonderful smoke pits as soon as you step outside of your car in the parking lot. The place is casual, and the menu is straight forward.
I have been able to try all their BBQ except for the sausage. The ribs are fall off the bone, and have the perfect smoke line when you bite into them. The pulled pork, and brisket were average in my opinion. They were not nearly as moist as I would have liked, but at each table, their are three BBQ sauces, sweet, mild and hot if I remember correctly ready to smother your meat. Rudy's BBQ still has the best brisket I have ever tasted in the Dallas area, but the ribs were a close call.
I truly enjoyed the sides from Bar-B-Cutie. I am a fried okra and corn fritter fan, and Bar-B-Cutie does not disappoint. However, I am pretty sure both the okra and corn fritters are bought frozen in a bag, but lots of restaurants are doing that these days and it did not bother me one bit. The coleslaw and potato salad were average, but enjoyable. Texas toast was tasty, but their corn bread pancakes are nothing to get excited about. They were dense, and room temperature by the time they got to the table. They really do taste like corn pancakes instead of the hearty corn bread that I am use to.
Overall, the I recommend trying Bar-B-Cutie at least once over Dickey's and Spring Creek BBQ if you are in the north Dallas area. I only wish the meat came out a little bit hotter, but the service was great. Rudy's is still the best when it comes to pure fatty brisket goodness, but one might enjoy the the relaxed cozy environment of Bar-B-Cutie.
